STevens Appreciation and Recognition Award (STAR Award)

In our continuing effort to foster a culture of excellence and celebrate our employees' contributions throughout the year, the STAR Award serves as an opportunity to recognize employees in a "real-time" way for their extraordinary efforts and to reinforce employee excellence.

What is a STAR Award?

STAR Awards are inteded to recognize employees' special contributions that are:

extraordinary in nature and characterized by performance that is substantially above and beyond expectations for a specific project, goal or the rountine responsibilities of the employee's position

significant in their impact on a department's, a division's or the university's objectives

discrete activities that are implemented over a finite period of time to achieve a particular outcome

Who is eligible for a STAR Award?

Eligibility Criteria:

Full time faculty/staff or regular part-time staff

Minimum one (1) year of service

Received at a minumum "Successfully Meets Expectation" performance rating on the most recent performance evaluation or at a minimum, satisfactory evaluation in the most recent faculty activity report as determined by the Dean or Department Chair.

How are employees selected?

Nominations for STAR Awards can be submitted as follows:

For Academic Divisions - Chairs, Program Directors, Associate Deans or Vice Provosts can submit nominations which will be forwarded to their respective Dean for review; Deans will forward their recommendations to the Provost for final approval.

For Administrative Divisions - Directors, Executive Directors or Assistant/Associate Vice Presidents can submit nominations which will be forwarded to their respective Vice President for review and approval.

Note: STAR awards can be presented at any time during the year and should be awarded as soon as possible after the accompishment or event in order to provide immediate recognition to employees. Employees are limited to one award per fiscal year.

What does receiving a STAR award include?

Awardees receive:

One-time award of $250

Lunch with the President, awardee's supervisor, Division Vice President or Dean and other winners for the quarter

Commemorative Stevens pin

Mention in Stevens Weekly Electronic Bulletin Board (SWEBB)

Note: Program will be centrally funded and managed through the Division of Human Resources
